You’ve likely heard that the French Blonde is Taylor Swift’s favorite drink after she was rumored to have ordered it out at a girls’ night with Brittany Mahomes. You’ll love sipping this mocktail riff on the light and complex gin drink while you stream The Tortured Poets Department album – I’ll be doing the same this weekend. I’ve also included a spiked (standard) option in this post!

As a lover of light and floral gin drinks, the french blonde has been calling my name since I heard about it a couple of months ago. I hope you love this one as much as I do! I’ve included the exact products I used with links, as well as substitutions so you’ll be ready to make this one ASAP.

Recipe

  1. Half your grapefruit, then cut each half down the middle and make thin slices out of the thickest part to use as garnishes if desired. You can also any citrus garnish you like, such as a twist of lemon peel on the rim or a dried grapefruit slice floated on top.
  2. Add grapefruit juice, gin, elderflower liqueur, de soi champignon, and lemon juice to a cocktail shaker with ice and shake well.
  3. Strain into a shallow glass (I used a coupe glass), and add your garnish if using.
  4. To make the garnish I used, gently fold your grapefruit slice twice to create a twisted look, and pierce through the middle with a cocktail pick. It will spread out a bit as you lay the pick across the rim.

Ingredients

I grab most of my mocktail goodies (the elderflower liqueur, the ritual NA gin, etc.) from Boisson, an online retailer specializing in non-alcoholic products. I also used the Champignon from De Soi, which adds so much depth to this recipe and can be used to make a million other recipes (or enjoyed on its own). You can also find some of these items or close dupes on Amazon. Once I get my storefront up and running, I will link these and update this post.

Substitutions

  • No non-alcoholic elderflower liqueur? You can use elderflower syrup, easy to find on Amazon.
  • No De Soi? Try substituting a non-alcoholic white or rose wine, or another non-alcoholic aperitif. The wine substitutes are available at some Walmart stores, on Boisson, and on Amazon.
  • If you don’t like gin, you can leave it out and still enjoy this drink!
  • For a spiked version, use regular gin instead of non-alcoholic.
